We are at the same dead end. I do believe that Ariah Coats, who had a daughter Fannie (Fanny) Coats who married John Taylor Brower, was born with the name spelled URIAH COATS. It so appears in early censuses. He himself probably did not know how to spell is and it changed in his later years in western NY where he died. I have done a lot of Coats genealogy and trying to link coming from the grandfather or great grandfather down.
My name is Elbert Richard Brower, born in Lava Hot Springs, IDAHO. 16 Dec 1947. I have 34,000 names in my computer with about 30% on my father's line which connects to COATS. I currently live in Gilbert, AZ. I will be happy to return info when I find it. I feel that I am getting close. This is my second week on internet and I am finding some real helpful data.
