Hello Viola,
I have been searching for my Grandfathers ancestors and have the following posted.

JOSEPH TURNER COATES of LOUISIANA 1870-1955
I am the Grandson looking for information on Joseph T. Coates who lived in Monroe LA with his wife Mary Davitt Coates who died in 1965.
He was originally from Columbia Louisiana and died in 1955.
Hoping to find information on their parents.

I don't know if the name Joseph was handed down from his father(s) or not, but there could be a link here. I believe his mothers name was Laticia Woods Coates. I don't know where he or his mother were born.
