He married (1) Wife II ? , Of III, Married W C. He married (2) Wife I ? , Of III, Married W C. He married (3) Elizabeth ? , Married W C.

Children of William Coate and Elizabeth ? are:
2 i. Henley W.7 Coate , Judge, died April 11, 1863 in Clark County, Alabama. He married Ann Elizabeth Boroughs January 22, 1847 in Grove Hill, Alabama.
3 ii. John A. Coate , Maj., died February 12, 1863 in Clarksville, (Grove Hill), Alabama.
4 iii. Jesse Coate.
5 iv. Miles Coate.
