Vikky.. The Wilburn Coates is my son-in-law's line. They were from Madison Co., N.C., and his dad was born in S.C.
don't think there is a connection to Indiana....
My Cross connection is at a dead stop with the 1840 Parke Co., Ind. census. James Cross (father of Catherine who married John W. Miller) is a total mystery...the only clue I have is Catherine said she was born in Ohio on a later census. There are a bunch of John Crosses out there....
and I have not really tackled that line beyond finding him on the 1840 census.
Don't know if this will help you, but thanks for responding
Mary
