My father knew Albert Coates when he was in Berlin before the war. I have a mounted photograph of Albert with the following inscription on the back. "Lago di Maggiore 1929 Villa Intragnola Albert Coates and Tomkins. Albert's "Launcelot" Symphony finished on this day" Albert wrote two Operas, one called Pickwick that was I think the first opera to ever be broadcast on Television in the UK when part of it was broadcast live in 1936.
