Hi Joyce,
I have a large data base on the family of these Coates in NS+NB. The names you mentioned are common for them. I need a better time frame to zero in on the family. John Coates was the one who owned so called Coates Mills and I suppose the town was named after. These all date back to Thomas Coates the YKS immigrant in NS.
