My search is for my Great Great Grandmother, Zula Kenyon Coates. She was born about 1850-70, (this is a guess). Family belief is that she was Pennsylvania Dutch. She married a man named Smith, who took her to the "wilds of Minnesota". Zula was an artist, her work was put on postcards and kids notebooks in the 1920's. One can still find the occasional print or postcard in antique stores today. Zula commited suicide when her oldest son (my Great Grandfather) was a small child, her second child was an infant. My Grandmother was her Granddaughter, the next Zula. I don't say second because I'm hoping that Zula must have been a family name. Grandma was born in 1914, gives a bit of a time line. My only recourse is to look for siblings or cousins. The only other connection I have is that they were supposed to be Coates of "Coates and Clarks" threads. Any information, even that you know nothing of Zula is appreciated.
Thanks Teresa Hanson Perret
