Dear Cousins:
I found this very interesting letter in my great grandmother's(Sarah Haworth Roseman)bible. I have attempted to identify the people mentioned in the letter and would appreciate any help in identifiying the other individuals.
                                                         West Milton Ohio
                            Sunday December 20th /(18)63
Dear Aunt(1)
It is with Pleasure that I seak the opportunity of writing to you. As I have not heard from you very often since you was here. I thought perhaps a simple letter would send me back a reply.
This is a beautiful but verry cold day. I heard that Allen(2) was in but I did not see him. Tell him that I think he might have called around if it had been but a minute.
Father(3) is not very well. They are all invited to a Quaker meeting next Wednesday. I expect they will all go or break a link. Sarah(4) is up at times she and her baby is both sick. Grandma(5) has gone for a visit with her children on the crick.
Aunt I wish you could come in. I think you would have a pleasant visit. If it were not for the war I would think about giving you a visit next summer. There is to be a draft here the fifth of next January and then some unlucky fellow will have to go. I hope that Thomas’s(6) ticket will not be drawn in that lotterry. If he should be drafted I don’t know how I could see him go.
I am ashamed of this blotted letter and am almost tempted to burn it. But I will send it hoping that it will do you no harm. If it should just inform me and I will try and do better in the future.
P___ write soon and tell me the news. How ___ gets along. Oh yes and that baby(7) of yours I would like to know its name. I expect Anna(8) is a great big girl by this time.

I send you my best respects Aunt if they be worth receiving. Write soon, from your affectionate niece.       Jane M. Coppock(9)
