Maybe you can help me. Thomas Coate/Coats born abt 1750, place might be NJ, died abt 1800, Newberry Dist. SC I really do not know anything more about him.
I so show him as being married to Sarah Ann Jones/Miles?/Leek?.
children: Catherine, James, Sarah, William, and Jesse.
Son, Jesse was born 24 Aug 1781 in Newberry Dist. SC and died 17 Apr 1855 in Havana, Mason Co, IL. married #1 Catharine Miles. married #2 Mary Coppock/Johnson?

Now, do you know more about Thomas and if my line really does connect to him?
I have also seen online mention of a John Coats (1735-1802) who married Sarah Ann Leek and had son Jesse born 1781. John's father is listed as Henry and mother Esther (Willson).
