Coale Family Genealogy Forum

Hi Karen, are you related to the Dave Morrow family of Sinking Valley, Pennsylvania? James Johnson Coale was my great grandfather. We have a box of extensive family letters written by... though mostly to him by his Princeton classmates and others. There are also many letters from the family members. As I recall there may be letters from Nellie there as well. Bella Parker was from Peach Bottom, Pa. When I moved to a retirement community, I passed the box of letters along to my son, Jay, who lives in Berkely, CA and can be reached through jay@quastler.com. Jay had the letters in Washington, DC and I fear that they may have been lost when he moved to Berkely. I hope not but I haven't heard them mentioned recently. There are, perhaps, 100 letters in the box. The earliest letter is a copy of an 1837 letter in which James Johnson Coales mother writes to her sister about the baby... James Johnson, born in 1836... having what appears to be an ear infection. If you e-mail me at jbcumming@aol.com I may have some letters on my computer that I can send you. Otherwise, you will have to get in touch with my son, Jay Cumming at the quastler.com address.
