John and Amanda Hale were my Cousin Laura Nichols relations. Below is a email she sent to me for my records on her family.
"My Grandfather's name was Carl Lee Clifford Nichols.He was born June 15 1902. Grandpa married his first wife, Grace Elisabeth Akers in 1926. They had two children, Carl Arlin (my dad) and Genevieve Marie ( Aunt Jeannie). Grace died in child birth Jun 9 1931, the baby also died. He married Anne Swartzwood in 1947, She had 7 children form a previous marriage. Grandpa's parents were Thomas Leroy Nichols (dob 10/19/1873, dod 12/191959) & Margaret Helen Adams (dob 4/3/1874, dod 4/2/1955) They had eight kids oldest being Grandpa then Helen M.,Lucy, Julia, Norton, Marion, Margaret Fanchon. Only Grandpa, Marion and Margaret lived into their adult years. Thomas L. Nichols Parents were Jon Sherman(1835-1883) and Amanda Hale I don't have the birth and death Jeannie is still looking but she was half native American. That is where the Indian part came in."
