Hi, Thank you for your response and the info you left me..As you probably noticed I have left messages on a few boards in Colorado, and I have spent hours and hours searching.I am still hitting road blocks with my Gerlock and Martin families I am looking for..there is other things that maybe no records will ever show me but I am hoping that maybe someone out there knew my families and can help me fill in that kind of stuff..This is what I know about the Gerlocks. They lived in Ordway, Eads, Sugar City and those places there. My GGrandpa Gerlock had a farm, also heard that he had a shoe repair shop, and had something to do with a cafe there. He also preached at the luthern church. My grandmother his second oldest child was one of the last ones to leave home. She got married in 1940 or 41 so the story goes to a Zimmerman she met in Rocky Ford..Grandma used to work in the cafe they owned and worked in the fields somewhere around there.I think she went to school somewhere there cuz she always said she was born in Sugar City, may have only been to between the 3rd -5th grade or so.The Zimmerman she married (Loren) worked at the Chevy Garage I think it was in Rocky Ford, he was paralized at the age of 19 from a black widow spider bite.My GGrandpa Gerlock raised watermelons and I have a photo of him holding them I think it was taken in Rocky Ford. They did have a German/Russian accent and often spoke that language when famiies got together according to my Grandmother. I have tried to find birth records, obituaries, any newspaper articles, things like that.I have my Grandmother's obit. I know that we are also related to the Windeckers from over there somewhere cuz My GGrandmother was Emma (Windecker) Gerlock.I have found things like census records but lose track of them after 1930's. The Martin family I am seeking we believe are related to one of the children born to my Grandmother..One of the Martin boys (William S.) from there is suppose to be the father to one of my Uncles. I do know that William passed away in 1977. It seems that the older members of this family are also gone. But there has been a photo appear that also has a female in it,just says Sharon on it, she was young in this photo and there was also a school photo of her, I think she may have went to school in Ordway and may still be alive but we don't know her last name. That is why there is so many mysteries to this inquiry. My Grandmother died in July of this year and would not tell us the story before she passed, so now it seems lost forever unless I can somehow find things to fill in the blanks. My Uncle is still living and if there is any way I can help him find this info or someone from that family (Martin, Rusher, Burke, McNeal) then he can then fill in his mystery blanks and I too can finish filling in my family tree for the Gerlocks..It seems complicated I know but I loved my Grandma very much and want to know about her life, the good times, the bad times, the struggles, I would like to find some pictures of her when she was young and places she lived etc. Maybe I am trying to find out too much and will never accomplish what I am after but there is always a chance..The Martin family I do know that one of them worked at the post office in ordway, and that we know that one of them was in a nursing home or something like that there somewhere cuz of a photo but I don't know how to find the nursing home, this would of been somewhere around in the 1980's. I have tried about 5 times to get access to the obits and stuff from the Heritage Musuem there in Ordway but I have gotten no response to my e-mails or answer to a phone call..I don't know how to get baptism records and stuff from the Luthern Church or if it is even there now. I believe that if I could only find out a few little things that I am seeking the rest will fall into place..The info you left in your response has tried to be utilized and some of them are related but they either don't know, can't remember, are too old or too young or just won't tell..This makes it even harder for me..So any suggestions you can give me from this info I have left would be so greatly appreciated..I know what I am looking for is out there somewhere..Hopefully with the help of kind people like you I can find it eventually..Thanks again for your reply and for taking the time to read and answer my messages..Thanks Again. So Greatly Appreciated, Kathy Notify Administrator about this message?
