Would this Gerlock be of the same family? He lived here in Rocky Ford for many years until moving to Pueblo CO. His widow still lives in Pueblo I believe, however I am just a friend of their RF days. Sam Gerlock Saturday, December 30, 2006 Obit from archives of Pueblo Chieftain newpaper Sam Gerlock, 81, of Pueblo, Colo., passed away Dec. 28, 2006, following an extended illness. He was born Nov. 25, 1925, at Beyard, Neb., to Fredrich and Katharina (Freidenberger) Gerlock. After leaving home at the age of 14, he held various jobs until retiring from the Pueblo Depot Activity with 31 years of service. Sam served in the U.S. Army during World War II, and after returning to Colorado, he married Irene Turpin on May 21, 1947. Sam is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Irene, of the home; sons, Tommy (Jackie) Gerlock, Henderson, Nev., and Bill Gerlock, Pueblo, Colo.; granddaughter, Miranda, Seattle, Wash.; grandsons, Clint, Greg, Bobby; and their mother, Tami Gerlock, Pueblo. Also surviving are sisters, Anna Leonard, Pueblo, Colo., Katie (Lutz) Denning, Lamar, Colo.; half-brothers, Harry Gerlock, Lamar, Colo., Don Gerlock, Vista, Calif., Konrad Gerlock, Pueblo, Colo.; half-sisters, Amelia Gettemy, San Jacinto, Calif., Lydia Novenger, Denver, Colo., Molly Wilson, Olathe, Colo., Helen Ashida, Ordway, Colo., Delores McElhaney, Colorado Springs, Colo.; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Sam was preceded in death by his mother, Katharina Gerlock, in 1927; by his father, Fred Gerlock, in 1976; William Gerlock, George Gerlock; and brother-in-law, R.V. Leonard. Also preceding him in death are half-siblings, Fritz Gerlock, Dave Gerlock, Irene Ervin, Henry Gerlock and Rosie Gerlock. Sam was a member of BPOE No. 90, Eagles Lodge No. 145 and the VFW. Sam enjoyed dancing with his wife, Irene, playing golf with his good friend, Lyle Hansen, and spending time with his grandkids. Donations may be made in memory of Sam to the Sangre de Cristo Hospice.
