Davis, Henson
I am looking for information on any of the following people.
Newton Davis born in Illinois and married Emma A. Henson sometime between 1900-1910.Emma was born in Texas (probably Parker County) and may have married Newton there or in Oklahoma. Emma was shown with her family in the Parker county census of 1900. Later she was shown in Blaine county Oklahoma with her two children Newton Davis and Charleston Davis. Charleston may have had a different father because the 1910 census shows her father being from Texas. And it shows Emma as being a widow.
The Blain County, OK. Geary City 1910 census shows Emma alive with two children:
Canadian Ave.
Dwelling #269
Number of family in order of visitian- 281
Davis, Emma - Head of - F- W-24 - Widowed- children born 2- number living 2- birth Texas- Fathers birth- Tenn- Mothers birth - Tenn - speaks english- able to read and write - Owes free House
Newton - son- M - W- 1 11/12 - Single- Birth Okla- fathers birth ILL. - mothers birth- Texas
Charleston- daughter- F - W- 5- Single- Birth TX - fathers birth- TX- mothers birth- TX
Newton James Davis (the son born April 17, 1908 OK.) and Charleston Davis (the daughter born abt. 1905 TX.) both changed their names to Henson later. It is said that Emma died and Newton was raised by his Henson grandparents, James Delefate Henson and Mary Mandy Henson (Barber).Charleston married Iven (Ivan) Markley in 1921 Beckham county, Sweetwater, OK and they had a son named (Donnie- I think).
These families may have been around Parker or Tarrant county TX, or Beckham, Roger Mills, Blaine counties OK, Las Animas and Otero (La Junta) counties CO.
I would really like information on the ancestors of James Delefate Henson or Newton Davis Sr.
Thanks so much.
