I went to the Library this afternoon and could not find anything in the La Junta paper. I looked from Feb. 21-26, 1942. The librarian looked through the cemetery records and couldn't find anything either.
I did find a W. H. Demits and wife Leona in the 1940 City Directory. They lived in La Junta Garden. This in now in what they call North La Junta. Makes the town sound big but it is not.
I also pulled them up on the 1920 U.S. Census living in Crowley County, Colorado which is to the north of La Junta. They were listed in the 1930 Census for Lincoln, Colorado. I also pulled up a Leona Brice Demits in the Sullivan County, Missouri Index. Did you already have this info. If I can be of any further help, or you have any other ideas of where to look just let me know.
By the way what state do you live in?
