From the January 4, 1913 issue of the Monte Vista Journal: "The Fisher children, who were left here some time ago by their parents without money or home, were started to their parents at La Salle, CO, Sunday evening by the *unreadable* of this place. The four children, of which the eldest is 13 years old, were left destitute. They were turned out of the house in which they were left and a shanty was provided for them and they were clothed and provided with the necessitites of life by the kind-hearted people of Monte Vista."
