Charles /Amelia Leichner - Denver -1880

I am really reaching for straws here, but you never know. My g-grandparents Charles (b. Germany abt. 1844) and Amelia Leichner (b. OH abt. 1853) disappeared from Allen Co., Indiana, records before 1880 census. I have a vague memory of my grandfather talking about the fact that these people might have lived near Denver, Colorado. Somehow I connect the cultivation of grapes with them. Are there any Leichners out that way who might be connected with this family? They had these sons: Charles, William, and (I believe) Lewis. Amelia's maiden name was Whery/Wery. It would be great to find their trail. Thanks!
