WWI soldier in Denver hospital

My grandmother's brother died 1923 in Denver while being treated for tuberculosis which he contracted during WWI in Europe. His body was returned from Denver to Georgia for burial according to our local newspaper. What records would be available from Colorado and how could I obtain them? A fire at the National Personnel Records Ctr., St. Louis, MO. in 1973 destroyed his military records and I was hoping that his admission to the sanitarium might give some information as to his service, as well as a death record or notification of next-of-kin.
Thanks.
