Found a Morain(e) Brick Wall. Please help!!!

My ggggg-grandfather was from the Alsass (spelling?) region
of France. He was an explorer who traveled to Colorado. There
he named a lake after himself (hence the name Morain(e) Lake) and
married a Native American woman whose "Americanized" name is
Susan Pancake. My family's brickwall is what was her
tribe? If you have any information or suggestions on how
to find this information, please write back.
