Death of Marshall David H. Barker

Some time in late 1887 Marshall David Henry Barker departed by train for Colorado from Tascosa, Texas with His Five small children. His wife Charlotte Died from child birth in Auguest 1887 in Tascosa.

Several of David Barker's grand children stated that David's son ( My Grandfather) Joseph Owen Barker was Playing with a dog and was bitten in the left eye. He lost his sight in the eye. David shot and killed the dog. The distraught dog owner in turn shot and Killed David Barker.

This incedent occurred between August 1887 and May 1890. it was said that it happened around Durango in La Plata County. Please respond if you have any information. Thank you
