Seeking information about Albert W. Root ("A.W."), who was born in Ohio Nov 1843. He married around 1875 Mary Gibson Lowe "Mollie" (born 24 Nov 1854 in Missouri), daughter of Cornelius and Martha Jane (Russell) Lowe. In 1880 they were in small mining towns in Chaffee County, CO, where he was listed as "Physician & Surgeon." By 1900 they had settled in Grand Junction, where A.W. was a watch repairer. They lived on Grand Ave in 1900. Mollie died in Jan 1910. In 1910 A.W. rented a house at 427 Colorado, near the fire house at 441. By 1920 he had fallen on hard times and was counted as resident at the county poor farm. He probably died in the early 1920s. They had one child who died young.
He indicated that his father was born in either Canada or Ohio and his mother in Vermont.
Do Grand Junction newspapers survive from the 1900-1920 period? Has anyone indexed obituaries? Any leads appreciated.
