George J. Pflughaupt, 92, of Loveland, Colorado died May 24, 2005, in the care of Hospice of Larimer County at North Shore Health Care Facility in Loveland, where he had lived since January 10, 2005.
George was born June 3, 1912, in New York City to Jacob Pflughaupt and Rose Schneeweis. George served in the U.S. Army Air Forces during World War 2 as a Photographer in the Training Film Preparations Unit. He was stationed at Lowry Field in Denver. He married Waunita West on October 18, 1942, in Denver. She preceded him in death on February 10, 1996. George and Nita moved to Loveland on March 17, 1947. George was a photographer, owning Studio Manor for 27 1/2 years. Their first photography studio was located on the upper floor of the Stroh Building on the corner of Fourth and Lincoln. After selling their business, George worked for nine years as a lab technician and photographer in the Instructional Media Center at Larimer County Voc Tech Center, now known as Front Range Community College. George was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. He enjoyed photography and was an acoomplished wood carver. George was a patron of the local artists. George is survived by his close friends and extended family, Hope Trethewey, Bill and Sally Moninger, Patricia and Steve Farnham, Sue and Patrick Malott, Kim and Jim Summitt, John and Kathy Peden, Lynn and Shawn Layne, Christine and Eric Hardy, Jan Bergman and their families. A memorial service will be held at 3PM on Friday May 27, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Loveland, Colorado. Cremation has taken place.
