I've got quite a bit of info on your Brown line due to local research I did for another La Plata county Brown descendant.Let me know what you need and I'll see if I can help.A rather large Brown family was among the earliest settlers of Hesperus. The William Brown you've referred to was the son of John M. Brown (1842-1916) and Martha E. Brown (1846-1881).In turn, John appears to be the son of Jubal Brown (1816-1886) and Mary Ann ___ Brown (1819-1895).3 other sons of Jubal and Mary Ann also settled in Hesperus--Hiram, Calahill, and Jacob. All married and had children.Much of the Brown clan moved into Durango/Animas City circa 1910, but some remained in Hesperus.Several members of the family are buried in the Hesperus Cemetery (on Southern Ute land).I've got a fair amount of details, so let me know what would help.
