WOOD Mine named for who?

Looking for how WOOD Mine was named or for who it was named.
Located in Gilpin Cty, near Central City, nearby was a KIRK Mine.
In http://members.xoom.com/weRfamilythe late 1800's early 1900's was being mined for uranium.
Any help or Suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
