Hester E. Holbrook
Hester Elena Holbrook of Canon City died Tuesday, Oct. 20 in Florence. She was born Oct. 19, 1893 in Fremont County an was 83.
Mrs. Holbrook lived on Upper Beaver Creek as a young girl and had been a nurse at the county farm before her marriage. Following her marriage to Kenneth V. Holbrook, they lived in the 4-Mile area until health reasons forced her to reside at a nursing home.
She was preceded in death by her husband and a daughter, and is survived by two daughters, Mary Campbell of San Gabriel, Calif.; and Edith Johnson of Colorado Springs; a brother, Benjamin Hall of Little Sioux, Ia., and a sister, Dorothy Nothwang of San Marcus, Calif. Also surviving are eight grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 22 at the Wilson Almont Chapel with the Rev. Paul Leaming officiating. Burial will be at Lakeside Cemetery.
Wilson Almont Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
