Looking for ANY information on a Clara Vincent, formerly Clara Steel(e?).
She was in CO in 1882, as she wrote a letter on 22 September 1882, and signed it as follows: Clara Vincent, Elbert, Colorado, formerly of Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania.
She may have been born in KY. Her husband in PA was Caleb Vincent. He died of typhoid in 1877. Her children first lived with Vincent relatives, then went to a school for orphans in Phila., PA.
She clearly left her children in PA and went to Elbert for a reason, perhaps she went to live with Steel or Steele family, or found another love. I do not kow her exact age, but assuming that she and Caleb were of similar age when they married in 1873, she would have been 25.
