I live in Elbert and compiled notes from several books on the families who lived in the Elbert area.
Here's what I have on Elisha and Amanda Baldwin:
1865 - moved near Elizabeth or
1866 - settled on Running Creek
1866 - erected first schoolhouse in Elbert County
on Running Creek 4 miles south of Elizabeth
Elisha furnished the logs for $50
? - Took a homestead claim near Elbert
Sold to Alex Brazelton
1866 - Horses stolen by indians
1869 - Bought the Boot Ranch south of Elizabeth
(Personal note - my husband's grandparents owned
this ranch from the 1960's to 1990.)
1881 - Moved to ranch east of Elbert
? - Moved into Elbert
1920 - Amanda died (Photo of Amanda in History of Elbert
County)
1921 - Elisha died
