Charles RAMSEY & The Little Johnny Mine

My Gr-grandfather Charles RAMSEY was in Maysville, Chaffee Co. in 1880 census. He was listed as a prospector. The family story has it that Charles struck gold, named his mine "The Little Johnny" after his son back in Iowa. Then was shot for said claim. How or where that story came about no one seems to know but I am hot on his trail and could use any help I can at finding him or his mine.

If he did die there, it would have been in the years 1880/1881/1882/or 1883. His wife either got tired of waiting and remarried or she heard he had been killed. I would really like to unearth this story. Thanks for any help anyone can give me. Pat Kain
