An Agent - Colorado to England and back

I just signed on to the Ellis Island site looking for some relatives. I am positive I have found an entry for an ancestor.

Background - Jane (Trimble) Carlton was the wife of David Carlton. She emigrated to Louisville from Cumberlamd County, England in 1881 ; and was widowed in 1892. Lived the rest of her life there.

On the Ellis Island site I found an entry for a "Jane Carlton", arrived in New York 31 August 1904 on board the "Majestic" from Liverpool. She is listed as "Mrs. Jane Carlton, age 55 [correct], widow, England [correct - wasn't naturalized until 1913], "Destination" "home" to Louisville, Boulder County, Colorado.

She is listed as an "Agent."

Any thoughts on what she was doing?
