Hi! I am looking for a particular house that was located in Denver in 1888 - which would have been Arapahoe County then.
The house is named AIRDRIE HOUSE, and at the time, was owned by MORTIMER J LAWRENCE.
The house had electricity, running water and steam heat throughout, and had just had $6000.00 worth of improvements. It was at least 3 stories.
My family has a letter written by Mortimer's mother, name unknown, to her daughter FRANCIS BROWN in Nebraska. At the time of the letter - 1888 - the mother was staying with Mortimer and his family due to a "grave illness". We are assuming it is close to her time of death. The letter is written on AIRDRIE HOUSE letterhead, with the only address as "Denver, Colorado".
If anybody has any information on the house or on the LAWRENCE family, I would really love to hear from you. We are willing to share the letter to appropriate people. I have tried the Denver Historical Society, Register of Historic Places, etc., but nobody seems to have heard of this house.
Please help! Large wall here!
