States: Colorado: Arapahoe
I have a letter written by a family relative (a married female, wife of a minister, a mother, about 38 years old at that time) in March 1894 when she was at "Berkeley P.O., Arapahoe Co CO." To my knowledge, this lady was permanently residing in Orient, Long Island, NY at the time that this letter was written; so I am curious as to why she was at this rather distant location. To my knowledge, she had no relatives or accquaintances living in the area.
I don't find a Berkeley in the county today, so my question is "where was Berkeley Post Office"?
And, why would a lady from NY be living there temporarily in 1894? Was there any missionary, or religious, or school organizations operating there in 1894?
