David, I saw your message on Mathew Clydesdale. I believe you are on the wrong line.Mathew hanged in 1818 was born November 18,1786 to Mathew Clydesdale and Marion Jarvie.He married Agnes Russell and had 2 children. John the oldest born January 09 and christened february 11,1816 at New Monkland. John died June 27,1876 at iron pits in Shotts,Lanark.Parents were not listed on death record and he is listed as single. Matthew married Agnes Davidson listed as June 04 at Cadder or June 11 at East Kilbride,Lanark. They had 5 children Matthew,John,Janet,Alexander and Margaret. Agnes russell remarried John Walker at New Monkland in November 1834 and died March 04,1875 At New Monkland. Parents of Agnes Russell were Robert Russell and Marion Watterston. Note that the maiden name on death certificate for Marion was wrong and listed as Masterston. The father of mathew(hanged)was Christened January 16,1758 at Old Monkland and died May 15,1786(age 27) of feaver.His father was listed as Richard Clydesdale with mother not listed.Richard and his wife had 9 children with Matthew being the 7th. There is no direct connection to John Clydesdale as stated. John's parents were John Clydesdale and Isobel Park. They had no Mathews amoung their children. Thanks, Terry Clydesdale P.s.
