Hello David -

I am doing my dau-in-law's family genealogy. So far, have found the following:

#1(most recent)Henrietta (Hendrickje) CLUTE b. 1801, md. John J. Johnson. Henrietta was the dau of.....

#2 Gerrit Dirkse CLUTE and Ba(a)ta BOVIE. Gerrit D. was the son of.....

#3 Dirk Gerardus CLUTE and Annatje Janse HEEMSTRAAT. Dirk G. was the son of....

#4 Gerardus Janse CLUTE and Machtelt HEEMSTRAAT. Gerardus J. was the son of.....

#5 Johannes CLUTE and Ba(a)ta G. Van Slichtenhorst.

Now, as for Johannes's father, this is where my trouble begins. Several sources say that his uncle, Capt. Johannis, in his 1684 will, gave the younger Johannis (who. was b. ca. 1635,d. 1725)land (believe Niskayuna area). When I looked at the abstract of the 1684 will, everything makes sense EXCEPT that Capt. Johannis's wife is listed as Bata Van Slichtenhorst, the very same name of the wife of the younger Johannis.

Is there an error in the will abstract, or do possibly both men share the same wife's name??

Also, do you know which of the Capt's brothers was the father of the younger Johannis??

Thank you for any help you can provide.

Regards, Kathy - Long Island, N.Y.
