The Chariton Leader, Chariton, Iowa Thursday, April 6, 1905 CHARITON SOCIETY NOTES: MRS. JOHN V. BONNETT of Benton Township entertained a number of ladies Tuesday, complimentary to MRS. F.W. HENRY, who leaves in a few days for her new home in Flandreau, S.D. MRS. NELLIE CLOW entertained about twelve young people last Saturday evening in honor of her son, RAYMOND, who was home on a visit. Light refreshments were served, and music and games so filled the passing hours that time for parting came all too soon. The occasion was one of much pleasure and enjoyment to those present. Today is the eighty-third anniversary of the birth of MRS. SARAH MELVILLE, and in honor of the event the Ladies' Aid Society of the Christian Church called on her at the home of her daughter, MRS. W.W. BEARDSLEY. MRS. MELVILLE's son, N.S. MELVILLE and family, were also present. They took with them a large supply of eatables and at the noon hour a sumptuous spread was partaken of. A few hours were spent in social converse and when the time came for parting it was with regret. MRS. MELVILLE is one of Chariton's pioneer residents and is a thoroughly good, noble woman. She has innumerable friends who hope that she will celebrate many more happy birthdays. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Copied by Nancee(McMurtrey)Seifert July 1, 2004 http://www.rootsweb.com/~ialucas/Main.htm Notify Administrator about this message?
