Am researching:
Ellen A. Clough born in Vermont, January 1853. In 1875 she married James Gillis in Bloomfield, Essex County, VT. The next year, a daughter Carrie Maud was born. The family moved to the U.S. around 1861 or 1862, settling in Kansas by 1880 where James was a farmer. In December of 1886 they had a daughter, Pearl.
Sometime before 1900, both of their daughters died and Ellen and James raised Pearl’s two children, Sadie and Leila Ford.
Ellen was still living in the 1920 U.S. Census (Barber Co., KS) but have not found her after that.
Any information on Ellen or her children would be most appreciated.
