Hello Bridget

I have only just found these postings and I just had to add my little bit to the story.
John Clothier and Marina Hockey were my husbands 3xGt grandparents and he is a descendant of their son Alfred Clothier b 1838 in Street. Alfred married an Irish lady Ann whose surname I'm unsure how to spell possibly Brusane.
It was fascinating to here about Alfred's siblings your ancestor Eli and his wife Rhonda and their courage to sail out to a new land, doesn't it make you wonder why? Probably hope for a fresh start with better prospects of work and getting ahead. This family did seem to marry a number of the Hockey family. Rhonda Hockey had a sister Kezia b 1836 whose second marriage was to my husband's 2x Gt Grandfather on another branch of his tree that were also living in Street.
Did you know any more about John and Marina?
I haven't been able to find John or Marina's parents.
Looking forward to hearing from you.
Chris Linard
