Susan - Not sure if you're still out there, but I'm wondering if your Asa Clothier and wife Catherine Adams ever lived in Northumberland, Saratoga County. I have an 1800 census record for a Catherine Clothier (age 26-45) living with a male (age 26-45) and five children. I had assumed that she was a widow, but maybe this is your Catherine who called herself the head of the household on census day! I understand that there was an Asa Clothier b. 1762 who was the son of a John Clothier, John also living in Northumberland in 1800. Thank you.
