I don't think they are the same person(s) There are quite a lot of William and John Closes especially from Ireland as I have found.

For the record; What I have is John Close who married Isabella Black, both born c1832, they had son William Close born c1852, a coal pitman, who Married Margaret McAvoy born c1852(mother Helen Watson)in feb 1976 in Ayr. They then had son Samuel who was born in Bellshill in 1891 and died in 1957 in Otford, Kent. He married Anabella Robbie and had three children, William, Margaret and David.
