The 1850 census of Amherst, Erie County, New York has the following family listed -- I am pretty sure the name is "Close," but of course I could be reading the microfilm wrong:
Frederick Close, 22 or 32 (the first numeral is hard to read), born in Germany
Margaret Close, 29, born in Germany
Margaret Scheuer, 8, born New York
Philip Scheuer, 7, born New York
Does anyone know the relationship of Margaret and Philip Scheur to Frederick and Margaret Close? Could they be her children by a former marriage?
