Okay, Stephen, I see where you are in the family tree. I have your Jacob Shelby Clontz as having been born in 1820 and died a confederate soldier. I don't have any other vitals for him. I noticed that his brother John Green Clontz married Luceriah Varner. Is she kin to your Mary Emily Varner? Do you know the wife's name of his brother Jeremiah Wesley Clontz? Also Thomas Harvey Clontz? Do you know if his sister Mary Ellen (others have said Polly Eleanor) married and if so to whom? Your ancestor Jacob Clontz married Elizabeth (Betsy) Shelby in Cabarrus Co. NC on 16 Feb 1815. Do you have a copy of their marriage license?
Did you know that this line has been proven for membership in the DAR? Through Jacob Shelby Clonts's daughter Rachel Elizabeth by Louise Mitchell Summers. She was the first to document Jeremiah Clontz as a Rev. War Patriot for the DAR. Do you have a copy of the news article written by Charlotte Clonts when they had the Rev. War grave marker put on Jeremiah's grave? I also had my chapter to put a DAR grave marker on his grave but it, like the one the DAR chapter of which Charlotte Clonts speaks, has been stolen off the grave. Thanks for the information you sent. I shall keep it with Jacob's file. Betty
