Jacob Clontz 1790-1881 and Elizabeth "Betsy" Shelby 1794-1872 are my ancestors. Jacob and Elizabeth were from Mecklenburg NC and moved to Paulding Co., Ga. I am interesting in finding out who Elizabeth Shelby's parents where.

I have seen it listed as:
1. Jacob Shelby and Elizabeth unknown
2. Thomas Shelby and Sarah Helms
3. Jacob Shelby as the father and Thomas Shelby as the grandfather.

In a book on Shelbys, I found information on Evan Shelby b. 1690 South Wales m. Catherine Morgan b.1695 South Wales.
Their son, Moses Shelby baptized 1728 Tregaron S. Wales m. Isabella Alexander b. 1722.
Moses and Isabella had the following children:
Mary, Evan, Thomas b. 1752, Eleanor, Moses, William, John, Catherine, Margaret, Rachel and Isabella.
In 1762 Moses bought land in Anson Co., NC and moved his family there.
Moses and Isabella Shelby's son, Thomas Shelby b. 1752 m. Sarah Helms.

At the following web site:
it shows that - Elizabeth "Betsy" Shelby b. 1794 married Jacob Clonts is listed as the last child of Captain Thomas Shelby and Sarah Helms. Thomas and Sarah Shelby's children are listed as: Evan, Mary "Polly", Sarah Ellen, Moses, Isabella, and Elizabeth "Betsy" b. 1794 m. Jacob Clontz.

If anyone has the answer I would love to hear it.
