I am trying to tie my Alfred Clontz (Clonts)
living in Crawford Mo., in 1850's, having migrated from McMinn Co., Tn. He was b. May 12, 1817, McMinn Co., Tn. and married Elsie Mahala Largent, b. Aug 12, 1818, McMinn Co., Tn. Family tradition says he descends from either George or Jeremiah Clontz, from Mecklenburg Co., NC. Alfred and Elsie had the following children: William L. Clonts,
b. Jul 1, 1838, John Clonts, b. Jun 24, 1840, George L. Clonts, b. Sep 13, 1842, Elburton Clouts, b. Jun 12, 1844, Susan C. Clounts, Breezely, b. Aug 30, 1846, Alfred Clounts Jr., b. Jun 16, 1849, Thomas H. Clonts, b. Dec 19, 1851, Martha Jane Clonts Farrar, b. Oct 12, 1855, Margaret M. Clonts Matthews
Harper, b.Mar 8, 1858, and Franzo S. Clonts, b. Jan 30, 1863. There seems to be one generation missing between Alfred and George
and his brother Jeremiah. Any help would be appreciated.
