My great grandfather came to Texas in 1860. I am unable to connect beyond there but I believe he came from Cape Giraedean, where cementery records show a William Finley Clodfelter son of George & Nancy, died 1844. Marriage record in Morgan Co. IL have a William married to Sarah Ebaugh on 7/31/36. The 1840 MO census lists a William in Cape G
I believe William F is the son of George and I believe the father of George W.
