Obituary of Minnie S. Clodfelter

Minnie Louise Swicegood Clodfelter, 94, formerly of Franklin Street, died Friday, Oct. 31, 2003, at Lexington Health Care after a serious illness of three weeks.

The funeral will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Davidson Funeral Home Chapel by the Revs. Jerry Moore and Don Phillips. Burial will follow in Forest Hill Memorial Park.

Mrs. Clodfelter was born Sept. 29, 1909, in Davidson County to Adam Cid Swicegood (Adam Cicero Swicegood) and Lula (Pearl) Koonts Swicegood. She worked as a seamstress for Siceloff Manufacturing and retired from Edgewood Apparel. She was a member of Second United Church of Christ. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gilmore Clodfelter; a son, Freddie Howard Clodfelter; seven brothers, Eugene Swicegood, Fred Swicegood, Fate (Richard) Swicegood, Johnson Swicegood, Allen Swicegood, George Swicegood and Ira (Dean) Swicegood; and a sister, Ethel Swicegood Russell.

Surviving are a son, Colon "Tommy" Clodfelter and his wife, Margaret, of Lexington; a grandson, Charles Clodfelter of Greenville.; a great-grandson, Cody Clodfelter, also of Greenville; two stepgreat-granddaughters, Laura Stroud and her husband, Allen, of St. George, Utah, and Hunter Jones of Greenville; a stepgreat-great-granddaughter, Taylor Stroud of St. George; a brother, Elmer M. Swicegood and his wife, Berdie, of Tyro; a sister, Mary Lee (Mary Leigh) Miller of Lexington; and a number of nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home and other times at the home of her son, 206 Lakewood Dr., Lexington.
