Info on and questions about Clippards of Lincoln County, NC

Thomas Low (died 1829), my direct ancestor, was the guardian of two children, Sarah and Elizabeth Clippard (of whom the record said "being of the proper age" to decide who their Guardian would be). In other words, they chose Thomas as their guardian. Three younger siblings (Polly, Andrew, and David Clippard) were given by the court to Gen. Peter Fourney to act as their guardian. The court documents are dated April 1812. These Clippard children were the offspring of John Clippard. John Clippard owned the land adjacent to Thomas Low's wife's (Patsy/Margaret/Martha Guthry) father (Reuben Guthry/Guttrey).

Were the Guthry's related to the Clippard's? Any info on what became of Sarah and Elizabeth? Did they change their last name to "Lowe" (all of Thomas Low's children had an "e" on the end of the last name)?

By the way, I have corresponded with Forney family researchers, and they were unaware of this, and had no information on Polly, Andrew, and David.
