Donna:
The James Clinton you're probably looking for was a 1st Lt. in Co. B, 7th Cav. Regt., 8th Div., Mo State Guard and later with Ford's Bn., Mo. Cavalry. The Missouri State Guard under Sterling Price were part of the Confederate forces.
The only hint I've found for Willis R. is a W.R. Clinton who served as a Private with the 10th Regt., Locke's Texas Cavalry. Don't discount him out of hand as many from Missouri enlisted in Arkansas and Texas.
I descend from W.A.J.'s brother, B.J. Clinton. If you are related to Joan Meyer Bradley please say "howdy"; it's been a while since we've traded info.
