I have a Charles Joseph Clinton b mid 1840s from Lancaster and Writsville/York area. He went by Joseph and Charles Suton seperartely. He used the "Sutton" last name because it was his step dad's. Had a child names Amanda with Carrie Sutton. I don't know if they were married. There were rumors in my family that my Suttons (hence Clinton's) had Native American blood. So interesting that you mentioned that. My Charles Joseph worked on a Riverboat at some point in his live. Died before 1900.
