Blackwood Cemetery:
On west side of Cater's Creek Rd. halfway between Dodson Rd. and Robertson Rd. in field beside old C.D. Latta house.
Few cemeteries, expecially those of such historic importance, have been so abandoned as has this one. Large trees have fallen, disloacting grave stones and vines and bushes cover everything. The rock wall has fallen in many places. Listed on 16 Jan 1987 by Fred L. Hawkins author of "Maury County Tennessee Cemeteries" pg. 130 Vol I.

Buried at Blackwood Cemetery, in the Theta area of Maury Co., Tennessee is RICHARD CLINTON, native of England, b. in 1755, was in Camden, South Carolina when he enlisted in the American Revolutionary Army. He served for an extended period, beginning in the spring of 1779, in Capt. McCorkle's Co., Col. Marshall's Regiment. In 1781 he was untied with Miss Marcella de Urbeville, in S.C., and their children were: Rebecka, later wife of William Price Seah, and Anna, who became the bride of Bennett Blackman. Richard brought his family to Tennessee and settled in Davidson County. Anna and her family moved on to Maury Co. and it was there that the old soldier died on 18 August 1839, at the age of 84 years.
