Hello Cousins,
It is wonderful that this forum is here, I have been researching my husband's family. He descends from Lewis Demoss and Hester Clinkenbeard by way of their daughter Sarah who married Geo. W. Jennings.
I am searching for documention of who Hester's parents were, she was born bet 1801-1804 some say David John b 1778 (s/o Wm & Hester Van Metre) and Margaret Morgan others point to John b-1755 (s/o Wm & Mary Linn) and Margaret Morgan. Does anyone have any proven theories?
I have been reading everything I can find on the Clinkenbeard's and related families. Would like to recommend The New History of Kentucky by L. Harrison it is a great book detailing the early settling days and mentions Wm Clinkenbeard of Strode's Station, found it at the public library. And also wanted to forward a terrific site set up by Bob Francis a Shawhan family descendant with great Bourbon Co info.

PS to Mr BeeBee, I have come across two Clinkenbeards that had removed from Kentucky to Iowa: GW Clinkenbeard removed to Morgan Twnshp, Harrison Co Iowa listed in 1884 Twnshp land records. And E. Clinkenbeard listed in 1870 Harrison Co., Iowa Census there is also an E. Clinkenbeard listed in 1796 Bourbon Co tax lists however I'm not sure if they are the same person. Some KY Clinkenbeard's removed to Indiana as well.

It's All Relative Research From California
