Hi Diana, I reread the messages and I caught an error. Margaret M. Clingan, w/o William Armstrong Clingan was not the daughter of James & Mary Hewitt. James did have a daughter Margaret but she married Francis A. Markley. When James' will was probated he bequeathed $25 to his daughter Margaret who had not yet gotten married. He bequeathed the rent from the land in Crawford County to William, his son. Therein lies the humongus problem. Being 1840, I could only find William in the Will of James. All the other 12 children of James I could account for....but, not William...which is why I kept associating him with the William in Crawford County. Let me check my Land records tonight... I went to Bucyrus yesterday and retrieved the estate records of William A. & wife. Margaret M.....There was one interesting paper that I did not copy as it was written by hand in very difficult to read writing: it explained for several paragraphs how Margaret's middle initial was M, not N as it was written in the court action. But never once did it explain what the M stood for. KathyM, still confused:)
